At SRI, we connect technical research to real-world governance challenges. As Director, I get to use my cybersecurity background to convene conversations that bridge disciplines and invite meaningful solutions.
Last night, SRI had the privilege of partnering with Rapid Response Mechanism Canada at Global Affairs Canada for a panel on Digital Transnational Repression in the Age of AI.
Our audience included G7 analysts from around the world — in Toronto this week for the launch of the inaugural G7 Rapid Response Mechanism Academy — as well as researchers, Government of Canada representatives, and civil society organizations.
Thank you to our panelists Lynette Ong, Marcus Kolga, and Patricia Thaine. It was a pleasure to moderate such a compelling discussion that explored how AI and other emerging technologies are being leveraged for surveillance and control, the geopolitical backdrop shaping these dynamics, and the implications for national security and human rights. And thank you to RRM Director Saliou Babou, and Canadian G7 Sherpa Cindy Termorshuizen for their insightful talks
