A belated congratulations to He (Shawn) Shuang and Shengjie (John) Xu for completing their doctoral dissertations! Shawn’s thesis focuses on his two works: vWitness and Duumviri, which focus on new techniques for protecting the security and privacy of web users. In both works, Shawn made creative use of machine learning to detect malicious web activity
John’s thesis explores the techniques for co-designed processor and compilers to achieve better memory safety. His work, covered in the papers describing MIFP and IFP cover the implementation of a custom RISC-V processor, LLVM compiler pass and OS modifications to extend the precision and performance of memory safety checking in C and C++ programs.

Congratulations to them both!
